Jamaicans dominate Grammy reggae shortlist

Four Jamaican acts have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category for the 2016 Grammy Awards.

The National Academy of Recording, Arts and Sciences revealed the nominees for the 58th annual Grammys yesterday.

The nominees are: 


ALBOROSIE bags ‘Best Reggae’ MOBO gong

Italian-born reggae singer ALBOROSIE has walked away with the ‘Best Reggae’ accolade at the 2011 MOBO Awards.

JAH CURE axed from MOBO Awards

Reggae artist JAH CURE has been dropped from the UK’s MOBO Awards after organisers found out he was a convicted rapist.

The Jamaican singer, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, was up for the "Best Reggae Act" at this year’s Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards


JAH VINCI added to Reggae Sumfest line-up

Dancehall musician JAH VINCI has been confirmed to perform at Reggae Sumfest 2011 later this month.

In a statement he said:

"The festival is certainly the biggest platform in the Caribbean for a reggae artiste to showcase his craft and this will be my first opportunity to work a complete set as a solo act, and I will not disappoint my fans"


JAH CURE African tour dates unveiled

Jamaican musician Siccature Alcock, better known as JAH CURE, will later this year kick off his first tour of Africa.

The tour, entitled “The Mama Africa Tour”, also features reggae singer DUANE STEPHENSON and will commence in early September.
