THE CIMARONS get blue plaque in London

UK reggae band THE CIMARONS were honoured earlier this month with a ‘blue plaque’ at the London community centre where they formed.

On 12 July England’s first roots reggae band THE CIMARONS were honoured at the Tavistock Youth and Community Centre in Harlesden.

THE CIMARONS started back in 1969 when Locksley Gichie met Franklyn Dunn on Harlesden High Street and ventured into the community centre.


BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS honoured in London with ‘blue plaque’

The BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS blue plaque unveiling ceremony finally took place on Saturday (8 September) in Neasden, North West London.

Councillor Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, said how symbolic the ceremony was in recognising the African-Caribbean contribution to the economy. Michael Adeyeye, the mayor of Brent, added that he considered it an honour to be presiding over such a momentous event.
