More reggae acts revealed for Glastonbury

More than 200 acts can now be revealed for the Silver Hayes dance area of Glastonbury Festival, including reggae acts like THE SKINTS and MUNGO'S HI FI.

Top new additions also include BUNJI GARLIN, JUS NOW, DON LETTS, ROBBO RANX, RONI SIZE REPRAZENT, SHY FX and SKEPTA, among many others.


ROBBO RANX brands 1Xtra bosses 'out of touch'

Dancehall DJ ROBBO RANX has said the people in charge of running BBC 1Xtra are “out of touch”.

RANX left the radio station this week after presenting the flagship dancehall show since 2002.

In a statement, the former 1Xtra DJ said:


SHAGGY gets ready for Liverpool Summer Jam

Jamaican-American artist SHAGGY will perform later this month at the Liverpool International Music Festival’s Summer Jam event in Sefton Park.

Following shows at Motion in Bristol and BoomTown Fair in Winchester earlier this month, the performer will be heading north to Liverpool.



Ghetto Youths recording artists WAYNE MARSHALL and CHRISTOPHER ELLIS have been added to the Glastonbury 2014 line-up later this month.

The ‘This Is Dancehall’ pair will appear at 4.15pm to 7.15pm, alongside ROBBO RANX on the Gully Outernational Stage, at Glastonbury on 28 June.


Bestival reveals Reggae Roots stage

The organisers of the UK’s Bestival have announced a brand new stage for the 2014 event called Reggae Roots.

The new stage will be dedicated to the myriad flavours of reggae from ska, rocksteady and ragga to dub, dancehall and junglist riddims.

Bestival regulars REGGAE ROAST, TAYO and JIM8TRACK will be residents throughout the weekend.


CHRONIXX starts a fyah in Bristol

Rising Jamaican reggae artist CHRONIXX performed his first ever full stage show in the UK last night at the Malcolm X Centre in Bristol.

Following a high profile, but brief appearance at the BBC 1Xtra show at Leeds Arena the night before, reggae fans in St Pauls got more than an hour of CHRONIXX and ZINC FENCE REDEMPTION time.

Early bird tickets on sale for One Love Festival 2013; initial acts revealed

Tickets are now on sale for the UK’s number one reggae and dub camping event – the One Love Festival.

The 2013 event is set to take place on 16-18 August at a secret location in the south of England. Early bird tickets are priced at £99 for adults and £50 for children, including camping.


1Xtra celebrates Jamaica 50 with Tuff Gong Studios film
