Lovers Rock Monologues show takes over Deptford

Lover's rock artists JANET KAY, CARROLL THOMPSON and VICTOR ROMERO EVANS have been performing in Deptford this week as part of the ‘Lovers Rock Monologues’ series of shows.

The monologues are a great opportunity to revisit and experience the music and mood that shaped the late 70s and 80s in the company of three of the people who were pioneers of the lovers rock scene.

Edward Seaga selects Origins Of Jamaican Music tracks

Former Jamaican Prime Minister (1980-89) Edward Seaga has picked out 100 songs for Origins of Jamaican Music which will be released via VP Records.

The four-CD box set will be launched with a promotion tour in late October and officially released on 6 November.

ANTHONY B live at the Lambeth Country Show; plus big show lined up next month

Jamaican reggae artist ANTHONY B wowed the people of South London on Sunday (16 September) with a stunning performance at the Lambeth Country Show.

The “Original Fire Man from Trelawny” topped the bill at the annual Brockwell Park show and showed he’s still got the fire burning.

The line-up for the 38th annual Lambeth Country Show (15-16 September) at Brockwell Park, South London, can now be revealed.

Sunday kicks off with Lambeth resident MISS MEGOO and the YAHMAN ALL STARS followed by HOLLIE COOK backed by a full band.

UK lovers rock artists JANET KAY and CARROLL THOMPSON have announced a live show next month at the Railway Telegraph in Forest Hill, London.

The show is set to kick off at 8pm on 21 July with DJs on rotation until 1.30am. Tickets are priced at £10 each and are available from the pub, by calling 020 869 96644 or via contact on Facebook.

Top 10 Valentine reggae nights in the UK 2012

BBC reggae show: episode three now available

The third instalment of DAVID RODIGAN’s new ten-part reggae series for BBC Radio 2 is now available.

This week the British DJ plays lovers rock anthem “Silly Games” by JANET KAY, alongside 1960s Jamaican beach music from JOHN HOLT and THE PARAGONS, as well as roots-rock-reggae anthems by BURNING SPEAR and DENNIS BROWN.
