DJ DEREK family pays tribute after body found

The family of Derek Serpell-Morris, better known as DJ DEREK, has paid tribute to the reggae legend since his body was found on Thursday.

A member of the public discovered the body in Patchway and the following day police confirmed they believed the remains to be that of the 73-year-old DJ.


Family starts process to have DJ DEREK presumed dead

The family of DJ DEREK has started the legal process of getting him presumed dead after he went missing last year.

The legendary reggae DJ disappeared in July last year and has not been seen since.

He was last seen on CCTV leaving the Commercial Rooms on Corn Street, Bristol, in the early hours of 11 July and his bus pass was used later that day from Bristol to Thornbury at 10.32am.


DJ DEREK last seen being chased from pub

The family of missing DJ DEREK, real name Derek Serpell-Morris, said they may have come across their biggest lead yet in their search.

It has now been more than five months since the legendary reggae DJ disappeared.

DJ DEREK’s great niece Jennifer Griffiths said that a continued poster campaign in nearby Thornbury had led to a new claim he was chased out of a pub following an altercation about a drink.


DJ DEREK missing after three weeks

Bristol reggae legend DJ DEREK has been reported to the police as missing and has not been seen by family for three weeks.

Avon & Somerset Police Tweeted:

“Can you help us find #missing DJ Derek Morris, 73, from #Bristol? Reported missing last night. Call 101 with info pls”


DJ DEREK New Year’s Eve show sells out

Bristol reggae legend DJ DEREK has come out of retirement for a one-off sold out show this New Year’s Eve.

DJ DEREK, along with DON LETTS, will perform at the Thunderbolt in Bristol on 31 December. All £14 tickets have now sold out.


DJ DEREK out of retirement for London show

Bristol reggae legend DJ DEREK will later this month come out of retirement for a one-off show at a familiar venue.

The Road to Carnival presents DJ DEREK and THE SCOUNDRELS on 19 August at the Notting Hill Arts Club (NHAC) with tickets priced at £8 in advance.

Bristol music venue shuts its doors

The owners of The Croft in Bristol have announced the legendary live music venue will be closing on 12 May.

The Stokes Croft haunt - which has seen a wide range of reggae, dub and ska acts perform over the years including DJ DEREK, LAID BLAK and KING TUTS REVENGE - will host one last show called the ‘End Of The Croft’ on 12 May.

Bristol reggae legend DJ DEREK will perform in Bristol next week with a show at The Croft.

The gig takes place on 30 March from 9pm until 4am with tickets priced at £6.
