BLAK FLAMEZ added to Redfest Bristol

Bristol-based reggae band BLAK FLAMEZ will perform on the main stage at this year’s Redfest in the city.

BLAK FLAMEZ, which was founded in Bristol in the 1970s and later signed to Shoc Wave Records, is an eight-piece Jamaican ska, soul and reggae band. After a 10-year hiatus they are back and ready to burn the place down with their old school ska sounds.


BoomTown Fair adds more reggae acts

New additions to the Trenchtown District of Boomtown Fair 2014 can now be revealed, including HOLLIE COOK, PAMA INTERNATIONAL, LAID BLAK, BY THE RIVERS and JUS NOW.



Love Saves The Day 2014 line-up revealed

The first acts can now be revealed for Bristol’s Love Saves The Day including GENTLEMAN'S DUB CLUB, STYLO G and MS DYNAMITE, among many others.

The big show takes place on 24-25 May in Castle Park, Bristol, with early bird tickets priced at just £25.


Bristol music venue shuts its doors

The owners of The Croft in Bristol have announced the legendary live music venue will be closing on 12 May.

The Stokes Croft haunt - which has seen a wide range of reggae, dub and ska acts perform over the years including DJ DEREK, LAID BLAK and KING TUTS REVENGE - will host one last show called the ‘End Of The Croft’ on 12 May.

Save Hootananny Brixton: Sign the petition now!

Lambeth Council has imposed new licensing restrictions on live reggae music venue Hootananny which is seriously endangering its future.

The legendary South London pub will now be shut down if anyone is allowed in after 11pm.

The owners are campaigning to change this, but in the meantime have advised the public to get there before 11pm to avoid being turned away. The pub is applying for a licence review to change the hours, which could take up to two months to complete, but the owners fear the restriction could spell the end of the venue as it is.


Q&A session with EASY STAR ALL-STARS: Michael Goldwasser caught up with record producer Michael Goldwasser, the musical mastermind behind legendary reggae tribute act EASY STAR ALL-STARS, for a chat about the group’s upcoming Thrillah tour, his Anglophile tendencies and what keeps him going forward.

Over the years Goldwasser has been responsible for the concept, production, arranging and sourcing of musicians for all four EASY STARS albums.

EASY STAR ALL-STARS to cover MICHAEL JACKSON; plus full UK tour dates revealed

New York reggae innovators EASY STAR ALL-STARS have revealed that their new album will be a take on the MICHAEL JACKSON classic Thriller.

The tribute album will be available on Easy Star Records from 28 August, but in the meantime you can listen to a sample of “Billie Jean” featuring LUCIANO here.


St Pauls Carnival alternative line-up revealed: BUGGSY, DAN RATCHET, LAID BLAK & DJ DEREK

The full information and artist line-up can now be revealed for the 2gether As One festival in Bristol after the St Pauls Carnival was scrapped last month.

The carnival alternative takes place on 7 July (the weekend the carnival was due to be held) from 2pm until 6am the following day across eight clubs in Stokes Croft.
