Sisters Of Reggae UK show rescheduled

The Sisters Of Reggae show in London featuring headline act ETANA has been rescheduled to 23 October.

The show was due to take place on 8 August at indigo at The O2 in Greenwich.

Reggae singers ETANA, JANET KAY, CARROLL THOMPSON and DAWN PENN will perform live in London this summer.

The show - which also features performances from AYSHA LOREN, MARLA BROWN and ANGIE LE MAR - takes place on 8 August at indigo at The O2 in Greenwich.

VP Records’ Strictly The Best series hits 50

Independent reggae label VP Records will shortly put out the latest volume in its Strictly The Best compilation album series.

According to the Jamaica Observer, on 25 November VP will release volumes 50 and 51 of the series.

Reggae Salute comes to Birmingham

Classical Promotions and The Drum are bringing 'Reggae Salute' to Birmingham next month featuring live performances from LUCIANO, I-OCTANE, CHRISTOPHER MARTIN, ETANA and CHUCK FENDA.

The big show takes place at the Tower Ballroom on 28 September and tickets are priced at £30.

Reggae goes country and gay

Two things you might not expect to hear from the world of reggae have hit the headlines recently – firstly VP Records is releasing a country-reggae record, and secondly a Jamaican artist has put out a "pro-gay reggae” album.

VP and Warner Music Nashville have joined forces on new compilation Reggae's Gone Country that includes 13 country songs by a number of well-known reggae artists.

DAVID RODIGAN’s reggae show: part seven

Part seven of BBC Radio 2’s DAVID RODIGAN reggae show has aired and is now available for download.

RODIGAN presents another hour of classic roots and reggae music, covering artists across generations including CARLOS MALCOLMFREDDIE MCGREGOR and ETANA.

The British DJ also plays a live 1979 Peel session from Birmingham’s UB40 - the track being “Food For Thought”.

GYPTIAN & BUSTA RHYMES destroy Wembley: videos available

US rapper BUSTA RHYMES and rising dancehall artist GYPTIAN stole the show at the One Love Peace Festival at Wembley Arena on Sunday.

Both artists managed to whip the 12,000-stong crowd into a frenzy amid deafening whistle-blowing and screams.

Other standout performances from the day came from ETANA, Sir JOHN HOLT and SEAN PAUL who all drew in large crowds and didn’t suffer the same arena acoustic problems that other bands experienced throughout the day.

Reggae stars descend on the UK

International reggae artists SHAGGY, SEAN PAUL, GYPTIAN, THE ABYSSINIANS and ETANA have hit UK soil ahead of the One Love Peace Festival at Wembley Arena tomorrow.

DAVID RODIGAN reggae show: part two available

British DJ DAVID RODIGAN has delivered the second part of his new summer reggae music series on BBC Radio 2.

This week RODIGAN previewed the new album from Jamaican singer ETANA, as well as a 60s ska blast from THE SKATALITES and the original reggae version of “The Rivers of Babylon” from THE MELODIANS.

Even more artists have been added to the 2011 line-up of the Reggae Sun Ska Festival, taking place in south-western France next month.
