The Duke of Cambridge presented former ASWAD frontman BRINSLEY FORDE with an MBE at Windsor Castle today.

Prince William also told the reggae musician he has a secret musical talent - playing the bass guitar.

FORDE said after the event: “I've just got a new bass player - you might know him as the Duke of Cambridge.”

ASWAD to headline Lambeth Country Show

The organisers of London’s Lambeth Country Show have revealed ASWAD will headline their main stage at this year’s event.

The 40th annual Lambeth Country Show takes place on 19-20 July in Brockwell Park and entry for the weekend is completely free.

ASWAD will headline the festival on the Sunday evening (20 July).

ASWAD announces show at London’s Jazz Café

British reggae band ASWAD has announced a live performance next year at the Jazz Café in North London.

The Ladbroke Grove group, now made up of core members Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye and Tony "Gad" Robinson, was formed in the mid-1970s and remain one of the UK’s best loved reggae bands.

MISTY IN ROOTS live: band unveils new UK dates

Roots reggae band MISTY IN ROOTS has announced a run of live performances in the UK as part of their ‘Respect Due’ tour.

The Southall-based reggae pioneers emerged in the early 1970s and became one of the most popular English reggae bands alongside STEEL PULSE and ASWAD.

The ‘Respect Due’ tour kicks off at the end of the month and runs up until the end of October.

DAVID RODIGAN radio show: part four now available

The fourth episode of BBC Radio 2’s summer reggae show featuring DAVID RODIGAN is now available for download.

This week RODIGAN looks back to the summer of 1976 when a new British reggae band had just signed to Island Records.

The band was ASWAD, residents of London’s Ladbroke Grove, and their debut single “Back to Africa” topped the British reggae charts.

Other music on the show includes 1960s Jamaican queen of rocksteady PHYLLIS DILLON and DESMOND DEKKER's first UK chart-topper.
