First London Intl Ska Fest 2017 headline event revealed

The organisers of the London International Ska Festival have announced the first headline event for the 2017 festival - BABYLON live.

The iconic reggae film will be brought to you by the soundtrack composer DENNIS BOVELL and very special guests at one of London's truly historic venues.

Tickets go on sale on 1 July. Entrance is free to LISF2017 wristband ticket holders

DENNIS BOVELL & CIYO BROWN present Jazz Dubbed

Reggae musician DENNIS BOVELL and jazz guitarist CIYO BROWN will perform two special ‘Jazz Dubbed’ shows this summer in London.

The gigs take place on 15 July and 16 July at the Hideaway with tickets priced £15 in advance.

DAWN PENN heads up Southend Splash

Jamaican reggae singer DAWN PENN will headline the Southend Splash event this summer.

PENN will appear on the bill alongside the likes of DENNIS BOVELL, JAH SCREECHY and many more.

The show takes place on 3 September at the Borough Hotel in Southend with tickets priced £14 in advance.

Billboard names JOSS STONE reggae artist of the year

English singer JOSS STONE’s seventh album Water For Your Soul was the best-selling modern reggae record of 2015, according to Billboard magazine.

The record, which incorporates elements of reggae and hip-hop, has sold 29,000 copies and spent eight weeks at the top of Billboard’s weekly reggae albums chart.

CARROLL THOMPSON and DENNIS BOVELL get ready for tour

English lovers rock singer CARROLL THOMPSON and reggae pioneer DENNIS BOVELL will next month take a live show around the country.

In addition to a Lover's Rock Monologues show alongside JANET KAY and VICTOR ROMERO EVANS, THOMPSON will then join KAY for a special show at the Jazz Café in Camden between Christmas and New Year, and then on to Kingsmeadow Live! for Valentine’s Day 2015.

Reggae artist/producer DENNIS BOVELL and his nine-piece dub band will live perform live in Manchester later this year with special guest CARROLL THOMPSON.

The British reggae double-bill takes place on 11 October with tickets priced from £13 (early bird) to £15 in advance.

Details revealed for Lovers Rock & Rare Groove Weekender

Lovers rock royalty DENNIS BOVELL and SANDRA CROSS will perform live at this year’s Lovers Rock & Rare Groove Weekender in the Midlands.

The big weekend takes place on 25-27 July at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill, in the West Midlands with limited early bird tickets available at £175 per person.

TOKYO SKA PARADISE ORCHESTRA album artwork & release date revealed

The album artwork and release date for TOKYO SKA PARADISE ORCHESTRA’s upcoming new album can now be revealed.

Guest vocalists on the Japanese ska band’s 17th album include DENNIS BOVELL, YOSHIE NAKANO and HANAREGUMI.

The new record goes on sale from 14 November.

DENNIS BOVELL to compere Bristol Reggae Explosion Live gig

Reggae musician and producer DENNIS BOVELL will be serving as master of ceremonies at the Bristol Reggae Explosion Live show in Bristol later this month.

The former MATUMBI member went on to become a key figure in the lovers rock and dub genres, but is most widely known for his collaborations with LINTON KWESI JOHNSON

WOMAD line-up: LINTON KWESI JOHNSON, THE DENNIS BOVELL DUB BAND & HOLLIE COOK

LINTON KWESI JOHNSON, THE DENNIS BOVELL DUB BAND and HOLLIE COOK are among the latest additions to the WOMAD festival in the UK.

LKJ and BOVELL will be getting the festival started on the early bird opening slot on Thursday night (26 July).

The pair have been performing and recording together for more than 20 years, where JOHNSON writes the poems and bass lines, and DENNIS BOVELL produces and arranges the tracks.

The 15-track record Joshua To Jashwha – 30 Years In The Wilderness will be released on 9 April 2012 on LP, CD and digital download.

The tracks on this career retrospective were recorded between 1978 and 2003 and are guaranteed to create a buzz among reggae fans worldwide.
