DENROY MORGAN spared a jail term

Jamaican music legend DENROY MORGAN has walked free from the US District Court in lower Manhattan after drug charges were scaled down to misdemeanour.

On 14 September 2011 MORGAN was charged with possession of 25 pounds of marijuana in the Bronx, New York.

US federal prosecutors take over DENROY MORGAN drugs case

The case against DENROY MORGAN in the Bronx Supreme Court has been dismissed after federal prosecutors in Manhattan stepped in and filed an indictment charging him with distribution and possession of marijuana.

According to the New York Post the feds are now “calling the tune” against the reggae singer who is accused of scheming to sell more than 350 pounds of marijuana.

Reggae singer DENROY MORGAN has been released on US$8,000 (£5,169) bail after being arrested in New York on drug charges, according to the Jamaica Star

The Jamaica-born artist was reportedly busted after leaving a property in the Bronx. Police then followed MORGAN's car and pulled him over after he ran a stop sign, where he reportedly "confessed to cops that he was flush with weed."

Reggae artist in US$350K drugs bust

Jamaican-born reggae artist DENROY MORGAN has been arrested after police uncovered more than 300 pounds of marijuana [street value of up to US$350,000] in the Bronx, New York.

The 66-year old singer, who was the first reggae artist signed to RCA Records, was discovered with 25 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his car after being pulled over by the police for jumping a stop sign.
