DUB PISTOLS added to Shindig Weekender

London dub/electronic group DUB PISTOLS will perform at the Shindig Weekender this summer.

The festival takes place on 27-29 May at a secret location in Somerset with tickets priced at £99 in advance.

THE CUBAN BROTHERS and DON LETTS are also among the first acts revealed for the third annual Shindig Weekender.

WOMAD sound system stage revealed

The World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) ‘Bowers & Wilkins Sound System’ stage line-up can now be revealed featuring DON LETTS, EAST INDIA YOUTH, CARA DILLON, ANALOG AFRICA SOUNDSYSTEM and JAZZIE B.

Real World and Bowers & Wilkins have curated the sound system line-up for its 135,000 watt speaker stack.

Top ska acts line up for new London night

The London International Ska Festival will shortly launch its weekly Sunday Service session in the capital.

The launch night takes place on 14 June at the Bayou Soul restaurant and basement club in Camden Town with DON LETTS & friends.

The Bayou Soul is an all-day Creole bar and kitchen which celebrates the best in Southern American food, drink and music.

More than 200 acts can now be revealed for the Silver Hayes dance area of Glastonbury Festival, including reggae acts like THE SKINTS and MUNGO'S HI FI.

Top new additions also include BUNJI GARLIN, JUS NOW, DON LETTS, ROBBO RANX, RONI SIZE REPRAZENT, SHY FX and SKEPTA, among many others.

London Intl Ska Festival launches club night

The London International Ska Festival is launching a new club called 'The London Intl Ska Festival Sunday Service'.

The club night takes place every Sunday from 20 June at a Creole restaurant and basement club called the Bayou Soul in Camden.

A special invite-only launch night is set to take place on 14 June from 4pm upstairs and 7pm downstairs through to midnight, featuring DON LETTS and friends.

DJ DEREK New Year’s Eve show sells out

Bristol reggae legend DJ DEREK has come out of retirement for a one-off sold out show this New Year’s Eve.

DJ DEREK, along with DON LETTS, will perform at the Thunderbolt in Bristol on 31 December. All £14 tickets have now sold out.

DREADZONE set to launch new Escapades album & tour

UK dub/electronic band DREADZONE will next week launch a brand new album, Escapades, on the Dubwiser label celebrating the group’s 20th anniversary.

The new album, out on 9 September, features guest appearances by Mick Jones (THE CLASH), DON LETTS and rising star LENA CULLEN.

U-ROY to play London’s Open East Festival

Reggae master U-ROY with his all-Jamaican band have been announced as one of the performers at London’s Open East Festival.

The weekend of music, food, theatre and family fun will mark the first anniversary of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, taking place in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 27-28 July.

Fred Perry Sub-Sonic Live is putting on a show celebrating 60 years of the brand including DJ performances from DON LETTS and THE SPECIALS frontman TERRY HALL.

Letts and Hall join NORMAN JAY, THE CHARLATANS and KEEL HER at the Garage in London on 26 September (9pm- 2:30am).

Vintage Festival cancelled next month: added to Wilderness 2012

The Vintage Festival, which was due to take place from 13-15 July at the Boughton Estate in Northamptonshire, has been cancelled. 

The festival was set to include BUSTER SHUFFLE, HOLLIE COOK, JUNIOR MURVIN, DON LETTS, PHOENIX CITY ALL-STARS and THE DELEGATORS, among many others, but low sales and the weather prevented it going ahead.

The UK festival circuit is heating up with news that a number of top reggae acts have been added to the Strummer of Love festival in Somerset. JIMMY CLIFF has also added WOMAD to his collection of festival appearances this summer.

DAWN PENN live at Brixton Jamm: Fan-filmed video

Jamaican singer DAWN PENN performed at the Brixton Jamm in London last night (5 April) to a packed house, kicking off the Easter bank holiday weekend in style.

Watch fan-filmed video footage of her 1967 rocksteady hit “You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)” below.

The ‘Easter Jamm’ night also included DJ sets from the likes of DON LETTS and a performance from rising Bristol MC BUGGSY, among many others.

The rocksteady artist will be playing alongside DJ DON LETTSBUGGSY and DEADLY HUNTAamong many others on 5 April.

The House of Fun Weekender: MADNESS live from Butlins!

British ska band MADNESS performed a greatest hits show last night at the Butlins holiday camp in Minehead as part of the House of Fun Weekender.

The unique event - which included live bands, DJs (DON LETTS, NORMAN JAY and JERRY DAMMERS), comedians, cinema, darts, a ‘nutty train’ and swimming in the sea - saw the Camden band heading up their very own ‘weekender’ 32 years into their career.
