PROTOJE and MADNESS to play Glastonbury

Jamaican musician PROTOJE and legendary ska band MADNESS are among the first acts confirmed for Glastonbury Festival this year.

Glastonbury takes place on 22-26 June at Worthy Farm, Pilton, in Somerset.


THE SKINTS added to Nozstock 2016

Top ska and reggae band THE SKINTS is one of the latest additions to the Nozstock festival in Herefordshire.

The group joins an already bulging reggae line-up including GENTLEMAN’S DUB CLUB, DUB PHIZIX, STRATEGY, SOLO BANTON, SHANTY, BUSTER SHUFFLE, CHANNEL ONE and more.


TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS to make live return

Jamaican music legend TOOTS HIBBERT of TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS will return to the live music scene this summer following a three-year hiatus.

The singer will headline Groovin In The Park on 26 June at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York, as confirmed via the Groovin’ Radio Facebook page.


Top reggae acts for Eden Festival 2016

CONGO NATTY, GENTLEMAN'S DUB CLUB and HOLLIE COOK are among the acts set to play Eden Festival this summer.

The festival also features CHANNEL ONE, MUNGO'S HI-FI and STYLO G, among many others.

Eden takes place on 9-12 June at Raehills Meadows near Moffat in Scotland with adult weekend tickets starting at £95.


MELBOURNE SKA ORCHESTRA lines up London date

Australian ska sensation the MELBOURNE SKA ORCHESTRA will perform in the capital this summer.

In association with the London International Ska Festival, the 30-plus piece orchestra will perform with support from PAMA INTERNATIONAL and DJ NANKER PHELGE.

The show takes place on 5 August at The Garage in London.


London Intl Ska Festival 2017 bands revealed

THE EQUATORS and JUNIOR BILL are among the latest acts revealed for the London International Ska Festival 2017.

Other acts DJing at the festival so far include LUCKY CAT ZOE, PHIL BUSH of SOUNDS & PRESSURE and PAUL HUXTABLE of AXIS VALV-A-TRON.


THE BEAT adds more UK dates to tour

Birmingham ska band THE BEAT has added new shows in Plymouth, Wakefield and Sheffield to its upcoming touring schedule.

UB40 to play Coast 2 Coast festival

Birmingham reggae band UB40 will headline the Coast 2 Coast festival this summer in North Wales. 

Coast 2 Coast takes place on 30 July at the Events Arena in Rhyl. Tickets are priced £22.50 in advance.


VIN GORDON gets ready for UK shows

The legendary VIN GORDON with THE REAL ROCK BAND are set to play a couple of live shows next month.

BLACK SLATE lines up South West show

London reggae band BLACK SLATE will perform alongside the ERIN BARDWELL COLLECTIVE and THE NOMARKS in Swindon this summer.

The show takes place on 18 June at The Vic in Swindon with tickets priced £10 in advance.


U-ROY to play 100 Club in London

Jamaican vocalist U-ROY will perform again in London this summer with a special show alongside Leicester reggae band BY THE RIVERS.

The show takes place on 5 July at the 100 Club on Oxford Street with tickets priced £17.50 in advance.

In 1991 U-ROY put out an album called True Born African, produced by MAD PROFESSOR.


HOLLIE COOK lines up Bristol show

HOLLIE COOK will perform at the next Love Of Dub event in Bristol with her band GENERAL ROOTS.

The session takes place on 6 May at the Trinity Centre in Bristol with tickets available from £16.50 to £19.50.


THE BEAT and JB CONSPIRACY added to Slam Dunk

Ska bands THE BEAT and THE JB CONSPIRACY are among the latest additions to the Slam Dunk Festivals 2016.

They join previously announced acts such as CATCH 22, KING PRAWN and CAPDOWN, among others.

Slam Dunk takes place on the May Bank Holiday weekend (28-30 May) in Leeds, Birmingham and Hatfield. Tickets per show are priced £42.

TIPPA IRIE lines up Nottingham show

London reggae artist TIPPA IRIE will perform live in Nottingham this May.

The show takes place on 13 May at The Maze with tickets priced £8-10 in advance and more on the door.

Support on the night comes from Afrofunk-reggae act BLESSING MAGORE of Zimbabwe and Nottingham reggae band UJAHM.


MACKA B to play VegFest Bristol

British reggae artist MACKA B will perform live at VegFest Bristol this May.

The show takes place on 22 May at the Amphitheatre & Waterfront Square in Bristol with tickets priced £5-8.

MACKA B follows the Rastafari ital diet and is also a vegan.

Late last year the Midlands singer put out an album called Never Played A 45 on VP Records.


One Love Festival line up revealed

Jamaican music pioneer LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY will headline the One Love Festival in the UK this summer.



JIMMY RILEY passes away

Jamaican reggae singer JIMMY RILEY has passed away after being diagnosed with cancer last year.

According to the Jamaica Star the iconic singer died in Florida on Tuesday after battling cancer.

Prior to becoming a solo artist RILEY was a member of THE SENSATIONS and THE UNIQUES.


U-ROY lines up UK shows

Jamaican music legend U-ROY has added a show in Cornwall to his touring itinerary this summer. 

U-ROY is performing twice at the London International Ska Festival this week.

The originator will be performing one Studio One and Treasure Isle set onboard the Thames Cruise and a second set at the Garage with DENNIS BOVELL.
