TROY ELLIS album launch in Bristol: Fan-filmed video from the Colston Hall now available

TROY ELLIS and THE HAIL JAMAICA REGGAE BAND launched their new album Ain't That Loving You at the Colston Hall in Bristol last night.

Check out fan-filmed video footage below of the fitting tribute to his late father and legendary king of rocksteady ALTON ELLIS OD.

The evening got off to an excellent start with Bristol-based Jamaican folk group TAN TEDDY featuring TROY ELLIS on percussion.

The vocal collective worked their way through a repertoire of traditional Caribbean songs and got at least half of the audience singing along word-perfect in Jamaican patois.

By the time TROY ELLIS was back on stage with his band everyone had ditched the formal seating arrangements to get up and dance.

The sold out show featured most of the ALTON ELLIS covers from the new record alongside crowd pleasers like JIMMY CLIFF’s “The Harder They Come” and a BOB MARLEY medley.

Ujima Radio presenter ASHER compered the evening which featured a number of friends and family up on stage with the singer, including long-time collaborator LIONEL ANDERSON on percussion and vocals; his sister and Miss Jamaica UK winner KEECIA ELLIS; and singer CURTIZ MELODY who had made the trip to Bristol from Trinidad & Tobago.

The full live and studio line-up includes:

  • Troy Ellis - lead vocals and percussion
  • Lionel Anderson - percussion and backing vocals
  • Nina Fearon - backing vocals
