Winner revealed for WAILERS competition

The winner can now be revealed for ReggaeChapter’s Twitter competition to see THE WAILERS performing live in Bristol.

We asked people to tell us their favourite WAILERS track and why to be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to the show.

The winning tweet came from ‏@DanBensDad who said the following:

“favourite track...ONE LOVE. Bringing the world 2gether!!”

We agree with the song selection, its call for unity, sing-along chorus and how it went on to become one of BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS’ biggest hits.

The live show, featuring original bass player ASTON BARRETT, takes place on 27 November at the O2 Academy in Bristol.

Other close contenders came from ‏@mattjnash who said “got to be Redemption Song, most chilled track of all time” and ‏@SamRBridges who said “'Don't rock my boat' because it has the best Bassline ever. U can't help but smile”.

More tweets came in from the following:

  • ‏@Salpescador “For me its small axe. So many different meanings to the lyrics.  BMW at their best in my opinion”
  • ‏@JohnSORCE “redemption song - reminds me I gave away my ticket to see BMW at Stafford 1980 #regret - one love”
  • @MelCrane1 “3 little birds cos it just brings back happy memories”
  • ‏@Mike100Simmons “has to be Trenchtown Rock - evocative lyrics and great music”
  • ‏@Verona83 from Vacaville in Northern California - “My wife is from Jamaica, and the one song that touches us the most is "Turn Your Lights Down Low!"”
  • ‏@UptownRankin “'Mr Chatterbox' !! Love the lyrics in that tune.”

THE WAILERS, featuring ASTON BARRETT, will be performing the album Legend in its entirety at the Bristol show and other Academy venues around the country this November.
