RICO RODRIGUEZ gets ready for London show

Jamaican ska and reggae trombonist RICO RODRIGUEZ and THE RICO ALL STARS will perform in London next week at The Forge, Camden Town.

The “party style jam session” takes place on 6 September and fans can expect “big surprises, from the world of show business and music”, according to The Forge website

In the late 1950s/early 1960s RODRIGUEZ recorded music with the top Jamaican producers of the day like DUKE REID, COXSONNE DODD and PRINCE BUSTER

After he moved to the UK he went on to record the Man from Wareika album in the mid-1970s under contract with Island Records.

In 2007 he was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music and in October 2012 he was awarded the Silver Musgrave Medal by the Institute of Jamaica in recognition of his contribution to Jamaican music.
