UK festival update: reggae-heavy Strummer of Love + JIMMY CLIFF heads up WOMAD

The UK festival circuit is heating up with news that a number of top reggae acts have been added to the Strummer of Love festival in Somerset. JIMMY CLIFF has also added WOMAD to his collection of festival appearances this summer.

Strummer of Love is a new festival for 2012 marking the 10th year anniversary of the passing of punk icon Joe Strummer, from THE CLASH

Rather fittingly, a wide range of reggae bands have been added to the bill.

They include:

  • CHANNEL ONE SOUNDSYSTEM
  • DAVID RODIGAN
  • DON LETTS
  • DREADZONE
  • DUB PISTOLS
  • HOLLIE COOK
  • JOSHUA MOSES
  • TALISMAN

The one-off festival for 5,000 attendees will commemorate Strummer and will be held at a secret location in the middle of the Somerset countryside from 17 to 19 August

Jamaican legend JIMMY CLIFF is the latest name added to the 30th anniversary edition of WOMAD – the World of Music, Arts and Dance held from 27 to 29 July at Charlton Park, near Malmesbury, in Wiltshire.
