SEAN PAUL interviews in the UK press

Jamaican musician SEAN PAUL was featured in two newspaper interviews over the weekend with The Voice and The Sun.

In The Voice article, SEAN PAUL said his new “commercial sound” doesn’t mark the end of his allegiance with reggae and dancehall.

He said: “It’s a very weird balancing act because you can’t p*** off the label but you can’t p*** off your fans. A lot of the time, you end up p*****g yourself off!”

[The Voice also ran an ‘In The Spotlight’ feature with UK dancehall artist GENERAL LEVY ahead of the Hot Wuk Festival.]

The Sun newspaper took a lighter approach to SEAN PAUL’s career and focused instead on the fact that he doesn't smoke weed anymore, but drinks it in tea.

He said: "I don't smoke any more. After 15, 16 years of smoking every day it was bad for my voice. I was having trouble breathing, man. Giving up has opened my chest out and made me able to sing better.

"I haven't smoked for two years now. I have a cup of tea every mornin' and I'm good for the day."

SEAN PAUL's latest studio album Tomahawk Technique is now available – tracks from the new record were also played on the March ReggaeChapter.com podcast, hosted by RICHIE BLOOD.
