Reggae acts added to UK surf/skate festival

EASY STAR ALL-STARS and SKINDRED have been added to the line-up of the Relentless Boardmasters festival in Cornwall, England.

Other reggae-associated acts confirmed for the surfing and skating event include DUB THE EARTH and GENTLEMAN'S DUB CLUB, mixed in with previously announced headliners FATBOY SLIM and KLAXONS.

New York-based group EASY STAR ALL-STARS are currently out on tour over the summer in support of their latest studio album First Light.

The NYC reggae collective has put out a number of classic albums in recent years including Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread and Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band.

Welsh reggae-metallers SKINDRED will perform at the festival as special guest headliners on the Vans Off The Wall stage.

The ragga punk-metal band is also out on the road around Europe after releasing their fourth album Union Black in April.

Last week SKINDRED appeared at Castle Donington’s Download Festival and played cover versions of TINIE TEMPAH and METALLICA songs.

Singer Benji Webbe told the NME: "Our bass player Dan [Pugsley] is really into dance music and he knows I'm a dancehall singer and we dancehall singers, we just sing over fucking anything."

Relentless Boardmasters takes place at a cliff-top location overlooking Watergate Bay, near Newquay, from 10-14 August.
