LEE PERRY and MAX ROMEO added to WOMAD line-up

Jamaican reggae legends LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY and MAX ROMEO are the last minute additions to the WOMAD Festival which takes place in Charlton Park later this month.

The two artists have stepped in with just three weeks to go after TOOTS AND THE MAYTALS withdrew from the Wiltshire festival following an onstage bottle attack in the US against frontman FREDERICK “TOOTS” HIBBERT.

Dub and reggae pioneer PERRY will perform with long-time collaborator ROMEO at the festival on 26 July. The two artists collaborated most notably on the seminal Black Ark Studios album War ina Babylon.

Festival director, Chris Smith, said: “We are delighted to be able to host two of the greatest reggae legends, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Max Romeo within this already exciting and unique line-up. I am positive they will be a highlight of the festival and the WOMAD audience will have them on their must-see list.”

Other reggae acts at the Westcountry festival include DAVID RODIGAN and BABYLON CIRCUS.
