Full details revealed for London Intl Ska Festival launch at the V&A

The Victoria and Albert Museum will next week host the launch event of the London International Ska Festival 2013.

The free event, ‘The Legacy of the Blues Dance and The Birth of UK Sound System Culture’, takes place in the Grand Entrance of the V&A on 22 March from 6:30pm until 9:30pm.

To mark a collection of seminal photographs acquired by the partnership project ‘Staying Power: Black British Experience 1950s – 1990s’, the V&A is hosting a special event featuring photographs taken in the UK during the 'Blues Dance' era, with a soundtrack provided by DJs performing at the ska festival.

Legendary sound system pioneer PERCIVAL MILLER will be joined at the controls by fellow METRO DOWNBEAT selector EDDIE REGAL plus other figures from the UK scene including GLADDY WAX, STEVE RICE and the TIGHTEN UP CREW.

For the full programme, check out the Facebook event page.

The London International Ska Festival runs from 28-31 March across some of London's most iconic music venues, including acts such as FREDDIE NOTES, KEN BOOTHE and RICO RODRIGUEZ.
