MACHEL MONTANO assault sentencing postponed

Soca musician MACHEL MONTANO will soon find out his fate after a judge in Trinidad and Tobago deferred his sentencing on an assault charge.

With carnival season edging nearer, magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor pushed back his and Kernel Roberts' sentencing on Thursday (17 January) to 25 February.

Last month MONTANO was found guilty of assaulting Russel Pollonais, Brandis Brown, Janelle Lee Chee and Gerard Bowrin relating to a “brawl” outside a Port of Spain nightclub in 2007.

The Trinidad Express reported: "A sigh of relief at least for now for entertainers Machel Montano and Kernel Roberts, as the two are now officially cleared for the remainder of the carnival season."
