A new documentary featuring BOB MARLEY’s eldest grandchild, Donisha Prendergast, is having its world premiere next week and will soon be available on general release.
‘RasTa: A Soul's Journey’ will show at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (FNC) in Montreal, Canada, on 18 October, with a repeat on 20 October.
The film is an exploration of the world of Rastafari and the inspiration behind BOB MARLEY's music.
Prendergast encounters Rastafari communities not only in Jamaica, but also in Israel, India, South Africa, Ethiopia, Canada and the UK.
The documentary features dub poet BENJAMIN ZEPHANIAH, entrepreneur LEVI ROOTS, DAMIAN MARLEY, RITA MARLEY, and Dr Jake Homiak - curator of the ‘Discovering Rastafari’ exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
The film is directed by Stuart Samuels; and produced by Patricia Scarlett and Marilyn Gray in partnership with Canadian television broadcaster Citytv.
